Take the steepest and most direct path up Kilimanjaro in 6 days on the Umbwe Route, a challenging climb for experienced and well-prepared trekkers.

About this tour

Mount Kilimanjaro Trek via Umbwe Route (6 Days)

The Umbwe Route is the shortest and steepest way up Kilimanjaro. It heads straight up through dense rainforest on the southern side of the mountain and gains altitude quickly, so it suits confident, fit trekkers with good hiking experience.

Because the ascent is fast, acclimatization is limited and the route is physically demanding. In return you get a wild, quiet trail and dramatic scenery around the Barranco Wall before the summit push.

Highlights

  • The most direct route to the summit
  • Quiet trail through dense rainforest
  • Dramatic scenery around the Barranco Wall
  • Experienced local guides and a full support crew
